Claiming a Good Grief Mindview for Life

"Good" parenting is more about being the parent

your child needs you to be than doing what you

or others think you should do.

Signifcant as the early childhood years are, your child doesn't need perfection. What they need is your presence, intention, understanding, and effort to maintain connection and establish a strong, enduring parent-child relationship. That's what you'll accomplish through the Good Grief Parenting for the Journey Coaching program.

Over the course of 6 months, you will:

  • Replace unhelpful parenting models with good grief practices that will guide your family toward a good grief mindview that you choose to believe in.

  • Apply good grief tools and strategies to create a healthy family environment that is a safe place to grieve and to address issues and concerns that arise.

  • Deepen connection with your child, your partner, and yourself, through caring, compassionate listening and conversations that include perspective-taking and permission-giving.

  • Practice the steps of emotion coaching—including effective limit-setting—to create magic moments in challenging situations.

  • Identify your child's innate traits and understand how they shape your child's responses to their world so that you can guide and support them in the most helpful ways.

  • Learn strategies that will bring out the best in your child and reinforce essential messages while managing challenging behaviors.

  • Learn how to recognize your sibling by heart's potential social challenges and equip them with the skills they need so they can experience social success.

  • Recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns in yourself or your child and replace them with empowering thoughts for living forward toward bright possibilities.

  • Identify good grief choices that are right for your family and commit to intentional choice actions that create and maintain connection to ensure your family experiences good grief.

  • Tap into and trust your own wisdom so that you can advocate for what you know your family needs when others have different expectations or offer unhelpful advice.

  • Decide what you want for your family and shape your family's way forward with intention in accordance with your values and wise heart-led choices.

  • Connect with also-bereaved parents who understand and support you on this parenting detour that nobody wants to be on.

  • And more . . .

You will gain:

  • Confidence in your parenting, so that you can make wise choices for your family without constantly second-guessing yourself or feeling you need to justify to others.

  • Assurance that you're prepared for inevitable future challenges of growing up, so that with your help your child will heal and "be okay."

  • Trust in your heart wisdom, so that even while you're grieving you can tap into optimism and hope.

  • Tools to build your child's resilience, independence, and problem-solving skills, as well as your own.

  • Access to a community of also-bereaved parents who understand and support you on this parenting detour that nobody wants to be on.

  • Real hope and a good grief mindview to enjoy life again and live forward toward a future bright with possibilities and even joy.
